Why is almost every parish not praying the Novena?
This question is a fruit that flourishes every time a person reads the Encyclical and one that it also answers. Within the answer is the cause, according to the person’s current spiritual state in life, whether clergy or laity. This answer is more straightforwardly understood after praying just one Novena.
To further simplify the above statement, human beings, each in varying degrees, struggle with accepting truth in all things because of our concupiscence (CCC-2520). Also, since we all are in spiritual warfare with Satan and his demons (Eph 6:12), they know what power we gain in knowing the truth, like avoiding mortal sin, so they provide much distraction to us.
The more we approach the Holy Spirit in the desire for spiritual growth in the love of God, the more we live in the light of truth. If a person continues to pray the Novena monthly or more than just before Pentecost Sunday and shares it with friends and family, the soul will be lifted into deeper union with God. A small, simple test will be reread a year later Encyclical, and the person will experience more fruit.
Don’t take our word for it; allow the Holy Spirit to lead you into the desert!
